FARIDABAD: Faridabad police have developed a software with the help of which it would be easier to identify an auto-rickshaw or its driver in case of any crime such as snatching or rape.
Inaugurating the new scheme on Friday, Commissioner of Police A S Chawla said, "Many auto-rickshaw drivers have been involved in abductions, loot, snatchings and rapes.
Tracking them is a tedious task. We devised a software in which we would be feeding the data of all the auto-rickshaws in the city. Each auto, alongwith its registration number, will be identified by a number generated by the software. This will be pasted on the body of the vehicle. The details of its owner and driver would also be entered. In case of any crime all information would be available at the click of a mouse." Auto-rickshaws not having the sticker will not be allowed to ply. In the next level, an SMS service will be attached. Passengers will be able to get information on their mobile phones by just messaging the short registration number of the auto to a mobile number.
